High-Performance Spaces
Entity view (Content)
In many buildings, there are rooms that demand exceptional sound insulation - whether to keep noise out or to contain it within. These high-performance spaces are essential in environments like recording studios, performance venues, broadcast facilities, or private cinemas, where sound quality and control over background noise are critical.
Sound can travel through multiple paths - floors, walls, and ceilings - making full acoustic isolation a complex challenge. To effectively block these transmission routes, the most reliable solution is the box-in-box system.
A box-in-box (also known as a room-in-room) construction involves creating a fully decoupled inner room, isolated from the surrounding structure. By combining isolated floors, walls, and ceilings, this system significantly reduces flanking sound transmission and maximises acoustic performance - delivering the highest standard of sound insulation available.
The main objective of this concept is to:
- Reduce or eliminate the flanking paths for sound transmission
- Increase the sound isolation between spaces

1 - Isolated Ceiling Hangers
The Stravilink range offers a variety of isolated ceiling hangers, featuring elastomeric pads or springs, suitable for all types of soffits, mountings, and interfaces. This flexibility ensures that solutions can meet any performance criteria, construction methods, or space constraints.
-
2 - Wall Isolation
The Stravilink range offers wall clips, braces, supports and fixings that elastically decouple partition walls and lining systems without sacrificing structural integrity. These adaptable solutions suit various wall types, including masonry and stud walls, and support conditions.
-
3 - Floating Floors
The Stravifloor range comprises both lightweight and concrete floating floor solutions as well as roll-out and discrete solutions, engineered to isolate airborne noise, vibration, and impact noise while ensuring the structural and functional integrity of the entire floor system.

Applications
-
Art & Media
CDM Stravitec has supplied solutions for top studios, concert halls, and theatres worldwide. These buildings are typically isolated from ground and air vibrations caused by nearby traffic, and they require exceptional sound insulation to ensure optimal recording and listening conditions.
-
Healthcare
There are several spaces within a healthcare environment that require careful acoustic control to protect the occupants, such as audiology rooms, operating theatres, recovery rooms, electron microscope laboratories and teaching auditoria. This can be effectively achieved by carefully incorporating isolation systems into the design of the building.
-
Well-being & Leisure
Leisure facilities are often integrated into multi-functional commercial, residential and hotel buildings. Whether it’s a bowling alley, cinema, gymnasium or sports hall, isolation is often required to limit the annoyance for other users of the building.
-
Educational
Most schools and universities have music, theatrical practice, rehearsal and performance facilities as well as media teaching spaces which include recording studios. These spaces require high levels of sound insulation to allow all activities to occur without causing disturbance in adjacent areas.
