Technical Approval: Stravibase SEB & VHS

Entity view (Content)
Stravibase SEB and Stravibase VHS elastomeric-based solutions have been granted the Technical Approval (ATG) 3322, a significant milestone for the solutions and a testament to their quality, safety, and effectiveness in building base isolation systems.
Technical Approvals, or ATG certifications, are vital in the Belgian construction sector.
They certify that construction products meet stringent standards and are fit for their intended use. These approvals ensure compliance with Belgian Works’ legislation and demonstrate that the products can be safely installed, incorporated, or assembled according to Belgian best practices. Products with ATG certification are also backed by third-party assessments and impartial attestation by certification operators designated by UBAtc.
Stravibase SEB and VHS: Certified Excellence
The ATG certification process for Stravibase SEB and Stravibase VHS solutions has validated these products’ suitability for their intended purpose - elastomeric bearings for building base isolation. These solutions are designed to enhance structural and acoustic performance, providing essential resilience and reliability in construction.
By achieving ATG 3322, CDM Stravitec reaffirms its commitment to delivering state-of-the-art solutions for building base isolation, enabling safer, more sustainable construction practices.
The certification process evaluated several critical aspects:
1. Product Performance:
Independent laboratory tests assessed the materials' mechanical and dynamic properties. Key parameters such as static and dynamic stiffness, resonance frequency, creep, low-temperature stiffening, and compression set, among others, were rigorously examined to confirm compliance with promised performance specifications.
2. Quality Control Procedures:
The Quality Control (QC) processes and production lines were reviewed to ensure adherence to industry standards. This included inspections of production workshops and equipment to verify alignment with quality and safety benchmarks.
3. Design and Installation:
Experts scrutinised design and installation methods to ensure compliance with building codes and technical standards. The evaluation also verified calculation methods, load combinations, material load ranges, and installation processes.
Ongoing Assurance Through Periodic Audits
To maintain the ATG certification, periodic audits will be conducted, including:
- Verify product performance through continued laboratory testing.
- Assessment of Factory Production Control (FPC) systems.
- Review of QC documents for consistency.
- Examine design documentation to ensure ongoing compliance with ATG standards.
Independent Oversight by Leading Associations
- BCCA, a respected certification body, granted the certification. Two key organisations supported the evaluation process.
- BUILDWISE: A scientific and technical research center providing expert assistance to the building construction industry.
- SECO: An independent technical expert organisation responsible for inspecting and controlling the quality and design of construction products.
