This newly constructed 15-story building in Brussels is situated adjacent to the train tracks, between the European Commission and the EU Council, with direct access to Brussels Schuman train station.
Named Capital One, the building consists of multiple apartments and includes several underground parking levels.
Given the number of residential units, vibration measurements were carried out, resulting in a recommendation to incorporate building base isolation with a resonance frequency below 12 Hz.
CDM Stravitec successfully installed a 60 mm (2-3/8’’) Stravibase Mat at the foundation level, covering the entire horizontal surface between two thick concrete slabs.
To further enhance isolation, a vertical resilient mat, 50 mm (2’’) and 20 mm 13/16’’) thick, was applied along the sides to ensure complete decoupling from the surrounding ground.
This solution effectively reduces vibrations, providing optimal isolation for the building.
