Stud Partition Base Isolation
Stravilink WallFix* is a sound-insulating wall construction used to soundproof internal partition walls or structural walls.
The system is comprised of a Stravilink WallFix-Base, a metal runner with isolation strip and elastomer washers to fix the horizontal runner to the floor and ceiling and a Stravilink WallFix-Bracket connector used to decouple the double wall from the structural wall.
By decoupling the internal partition wall or double wall from all sides, Stravilink WallFix effectively breaks the physical transmission of vibration noise between structural components. The partition wall is completely free-standing and can be erected with any void.
The insulation value depends on the cavity depth, which with this system can be determined on an individual basis.
Main Benefits
- Cost effective
- Quick and easy to install
- Natural frequencies of >10Hz achievable
- Can be used in combination with floating floors and isolated ceilings to create box-in-box constructions
- Can be used at the top of studwork walls to provide an isolated top restraint
- Holes that are at least twice the diameter of the fixings used to fix the base stud down are required to allow the fixings to be installed without touching the base stud and bridging the isolation
Design Requirements
- Acoustic performance requirement
- Weight of the supported wall in kN/m
- Width of the stud and supported dry wall
- Spacing and diameter of the fixings through the base stud
