The Japanese company Daikin has decided to establish the new facility’s headquarters of the development center for Europe in Ghent, including three anechoic acoustical test rooms.
These rooms are designed to measure the airborne noise produced by their latest innovations in heating and cooling systems.

As the three new acoustical test chambers are situated right next to one another, it was important to foresee sufficient noise isolation between them.

To prevent noise from being transferred through the floor, Daikin decided to use a high-performance floating floor system (Stravifloor Jackup-R) for all the test chambers.
The Stravifloor Jackup-R system was chosen because it allows a high air void (in this case, by jacking up over 100mm), in combination with a thick layer of mineral wool (here 200mm), to maximize void absorption even at low frequencies.

Services had to be incorporated into the floor system at certain spots, so careful preparations had to be made to ensure that everything fitted well and that no acoustical bridges would be created.
