With the completion of the Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre (RACC) and the RTM Stage, another milestone in the ‘Hart van Zuid’ area development in Rotterdam has been reached.

The RACC has 35 spaces with capacities ranging from 50 to 1,000 people in which international conventions and gatherings can take place. The RTM Stage can be used as a music hall or auditorium for up to 7,800 visitors, making it the largest theatre hall in the Netherlands.

Based on the loads, acoustic requirements and the available space, CDM Stravitec and Delta-L designed various solutions to effectively decouple the RTM Stage. The floors connected to the auditorium walls are installed on Stravibase SEB elastomeric bearings. Stravibase Fix structural elastic fixations isolate the steel construction from the walls.

Outside of the main halls, in the expo foyer, 2,500 sqm of concrete floating floors on top of a Stravifloor Channel floor system with natural rubber supports was installed to achieve a high level of sound insulation. Stravilink WallFix isolators decouple the walls from the rest of the building.

The Stravibase VHS system was used for a number of steel bearings due to the high load. This system can withstand high loads and at the same time provide excellent acoustic performance.
