Central Eureka is an apartment complex located in Breda, Netherlands, featuring a large mechanical installation on its roof.
During an initial phase, Stravimech Bearing-S springs from the legacy range were installed underneath the main equipment to control structural vibrations.
To verify performance, acoustic consultant Greten returned to conduct additional vibration measurements, which confirmed that the primary equipment springs were performing exceptionally well, with almost no vibrations detected directly next to them.
However, further analysis revealed that vibrations were still being transmitted via the pipework, which remained rigidly connected to hard rubber supports.
To address this, CDM Stravitec and its partner Delta-L supplied specialized springs to decouple the pipework from the supports, working alongside installation company Bogro Snelrewaard and acoustic consultant Greten.
While the main mechanical unit was successfully isolated, vibrations were still transmitted through the rigid pipework connections and hard rubber supports.
Although these supports can sometimes provide sufficient vibration mitigation, their effectiveness becomes more limited at lower excitation frequencies, where greater flexibility and isolation are required.
CDM Stravitec addressed this by using Stravimech Bearing-S1 spring mounts, with four different spring types selected to match the varying loads of the rooftop pipework.
The range also offers three installation variants for each spring, allowing the solution to be adapted to different installation requirements. In this case, the SP variant with a single bottom plate provided the most suitable configuration.
With these additional isolation measures in place, the remaining vibration transmission was eliminated, ensuring a vibration-free environment and improved comfort for the building occupants.
