On Air Villejuif, located in the Paris metropolitan area, is a newly developed gym situated on the ground floor of a mixed-use residential building. A parking garage occupies the basement level directly below the gym, while several floors of apartments are located above.

Given this highly sensitive structural context, an acoustical study was conducted during the design phase. The results confirmed the need for a high-performance floating floor system to control both structure-borne vibration and low-frequency noise generated by free weights and functional training activities.
The client sought a solution that would meet the acoustic recommendations while remaining within a strict budget and allowing flexibility for future performance upgrades if required.

CDM Stravitec provided and installed a Stravigym XP floating floor solution supported by 1 kN/4 Hz springs featuring dBooster® technology.
The gym layout included 262 m² of strength training zone and 49 m² dedicated to free-weight, both benefiting from high-performance vibration and impact isolation.

This configuration was chosen for its ability to mitigate low-frequency impacts typically produced by dropping weights, ensuring compliance with the acoustic study requirements.

The solution was installed to meet the current performance requirements. Should the gym’s activities increase or future acoustic demands arise, the design allows the Stravigym GympactLayer-45 to be added later, further enhancing vibration and impact isolation without the need to dismantle the existing floor.

After the club opened, the client decided to extend the free-weight area, requiring an additional 7 m² of floating floor. CDM Stravitec mobilised quickly and completed the installation in under one week, with minimal impact on gym operations, accommodating the last-minute layout adaptation seamlessly.

As the owner of a gym located at the foot of a residential building, the acoustic studies revealed the need for proper floor sound insulation. It was essential to ensure that noise and vibrations caused by dropping weights were effectively absorbed to avoid any conflict with the residents. Throughout the process, CDM Stravitec supported me in both the technical and budgetary aspects, helping me follow the acoustic recommendations without overinvesting. The gym has now been open for six months, and everything is going perfectly. I highly recommend CDM Stravitec.
