Timber Frame Structures

Entity view (Content)
Tradition wooden frame construction refers to the use of solid wood joist, posi joist, I-beam and other lightweight structural elements that are made from, in part, timber.
Due to the relative lightweight nature of traditional timber construction, it relies on air gaps and limited structural connections between panels to improve sound insulation but will always be limited by dimensional capabilities such as span and depths of panels.
As part of our commitment to make your world a quieter place, CDM Stravitec offers several solutions to improve sound insulation of separating traditional timber floor and walls, utilising cost effective elastomeric and spring solutions that are engineered specifically for wooden frame construction.
Concrete Floating Floors
Stravifloor Deck is a low-profile acoustical floor system using a proprietary dovetailed metal deck. Acoustic separation/isolation is achieved by substituting traditional boards with sheets of decking supported on discrete resilient pads or strips.
Stravifloor Deck
Main Features
- Reduced dead load (concrete toppings as thin as 50 mm (2’’), starting from just 0.90 kN/m² (0.13 psi)
- Low-profile floating floor (total build-up height from 63 mm (2-31/64’’)
- High permissible loads
- High impact and airborne sound insulation
- Easy to handle lightweight components
- Easy to incorporate underfloor heating or cooling systems
- Allows for large spans
- Moisture resistant formwork and free of autochthonous parasites/harmful organisms
Lightweight Floating Floors
If your project doesn’t allow for concrete floating slabs the same performance benefits can be achieved by using Stravifloor lightweight floating floor solutions which have been specifically tested on wooden joists with and without ceiling systems.
Extensive testing and validation have confirmed the efficacy of Stravifloor Deck and Lightweight floating floors when using pads or strips as resilient support. Multiple buildups were evaluated, encompassing scenarios with suspended ceilings and acoustically isolated ceiling systems, utilizing Stravilink PSJ hangers as part of the system.
